Islands Paddle & Lost Fort Trek
You’ll paddle around crystal clear shallows to become comfortable in your kayaks prior to launching far far away into the Sitka Sound.
Once we’re on our way and you are settled into your own paddling rhythm, we’ll pause near Sitka’s decommissioned Naval Base and share history of Sitka’s Pacific sea lanes during WWII and learn of the historical and cultural gems that Sitka holds.
You’ll be amazed by the abundance of colorful marine life that inhabits the intertidal zone and kelp forests that fringe the coast. With bald eagles watching over us from the trees, it’s almost certain that we’ll see some of our other wild neighbors: curious harbor seals, massive steller sea lions and perhaps a few playful sea otters. Occasionally we even sight humpback, minke or orca whales!
